Dating

Allen and I have been successful in having two dates in the past three weeks. I want to get it regular, because it is so important and my children get use to the idea. Here is the conversation I had with Evan age 3 1/2 and Eva 51/2 before our second date in over a year.

Heather: Daddy and I are going on a date tonight.
Evan: Why? You went on a date last week.
Heather: Because we need time together and we want it every Friday night like Grandma and Grandpa Jackson.
Evan: Can I go too?
Heather: No, but when you are 16 you can go on a date with a girl.
Evan: Eva is a girl! I will go on a date with her!
Heather: Yes, she is a girl but you can't date her.
Eva: Dates are just for moms and dads and you have to marry someone not in our family.
Heather: Yes, Eva but you and Evan can pick a boy and girl to go with you and "double date."
Eva: I thought dating was only for moms and dads that are married.
Heather: Yes, they are, but they are also for girls and boys to get to know each other before they get married.

Alright, there was a lot of information there and I expect to have more discussions on dating with my children way before time for them to date.
