Substitute #2

School is going well, our family routines are falling into place, but money always is tight.  Allen usually works over time, but for the month school started there was no opportunities.  So, I asked the school if I was still on their substitute list. They said yes, but no calls.  I saw the principal Friday and asked if she know I was available, she thanked me and said she would check.  Saturday we saw her again and confirmed that I was in the list and make sure I was called.  Sunday night two phone calls, High school English, I was scared.  I first said "No, just Elementary." Then the principal called, I realized it was fear.  I had subbed in High school before becoming a teacher and having my own family, so the fear was for my two youngest, who never were apart from me and dad all day.  She spoke with me and listened for probably 10 minutes plus while I reasoned pro/con.  The kids clothes were set out; I had two hours before bed to straighten the house, call sitter, pack bags and lunches.  This was possible.  I made the jump and said yes! Principal sweetened the deal by allowing my kids to be dropped off early and getting me out early to pick up.  Hardest part of the day: dropping my little ones at the sitter for the day, but now I know it is possible.
The classes were great I ever remembered students from subbing three years ago!  Honestly I did a little "flying" too.

Woo-hoo for subbing! I'm glad that it went well :) And awesome that you had a principal that would work with you. That's the best part. :)
