This weekend was Stake Conference. Our church meetings usually start with the evening 7pm adult session, but the passing of President Hinckley the funeral services at noon started the mood for the evening events. When major events happen in the lives of those we pray for, it makes us all step back and ask the questions: If it was me would I be ready? How am I living my life? Would my family and friends have good things to say about me? Then we realize that we still have a lot of work to do, and hopefully a change has begun and we act on the prompting to be better people, for ourselves and those around us. The evening session was focused on those needs. At one point our Stake president pleaded that we would seek the Holy Ghost to give us our own counsel and revelation so we can enjoy the full blessings the Lord promises to give the faithful saints. I have known for sometime that I need to work harder on the basics (DAILY reading scriptures, praying, and seeking the Holy Spirit to be with me). I knew that if I didn't work harder I may probably be with the Nephites that the Lord said, "You were slow to come to me, so I will be slow to answer. " So the notes are written down again, but this time a change. When returning home, I reviewed the notes from conference and discussed them with my husband. Of course, making a goal to work harder, then actually reading the suggested scriptures from conference and setting the time daily to continue. Personal prayers every time getting out or in to bed, thanking the Lord for my blessings. The study of scriptures and the words of Latter-day Prophets I am not sure if I will start with "I, (Heather), having been born of goodly parents...", but the counsel the last three years has been to continue the study of the Book of Mormon, so finding a good approach for me will be key to my constant development. I must remind myself the concept of "enduring to the end" so that I can "truely be converted." My little family depend on my example and testimony (the pressure is on). This is life (not a TV show) Always To be Continued ...

Heather,
I'm grateful for your thoughts on the furneral and your commitment to do better. It also helps to put it in writing. Your super.
One of my favorite things to do is read the conference talks; I try to do one for my scripture study (or in addition to it) at least once a week, and it helps me a lot. :)
