MOMMY EVAN DADDY
This weekend Allen and I celebrated our birthdays. I wanted to surprise Allen so I just told him to leave to leave Saturday free for fun. Plan #1 was to take some friends and our children to Canton, TX every first Monday of the month and the weekend previous is a huge "flea market." Well, I was glad I had not gotten Allen's hope up, by keeping it a surprise, because the Sunday before we learned that a sweet couple in our ward was going to be sealed in the Dallas Temple. Our friends also had relatives who wanted to go to the Temple that weekend too. So, I said to myself, "Canton happens once a month, but a sealing only happens once in a life time." Allen also figured out all my hints and it just was not a surprise any more.
Saturday started with trying to sleep in with Evan crying and Eva saying, "The sun is up, time for pancakes!" Pancakes for breakfast is a usual Saturday event. I also got a package from my mom so while Allen made the pancakes Eva and I opened it. It was piano books I requested, so I could teach Eva how to play. She was so excited, and I sat at the piano and played the first four songs. I got a babysitter for Eva and Evan, and we went to the Temple. We got there early to have a fabulous low cost lunch at the Temple and enjoyed relaxing in the Chapel for the session. I had not been on a session since before Evan was born, so it was wonderful to notice the spiritual symbols of the ceremony I had forgotten. The sealing was beautiful, I actually got to hear this same sealer give advice to another couple, just a week before but it was still filled with inspiration for this couple. It was a wonderful day with Allen. We picked up Eva and Evan for dinner out to eat. Eva was tired and upset that we were not having dinner at home. When she saw the buffet (Chinese because the regular buffet was closed down :-( ) she settled down. After dinner we went to the grocery store (another reason to eat out, no food in the house), Eva sang repeatedly, "Happy Birthday Mommy! Happy Birthday Daddy!" It is great when they remember special events! Now we just have to remind her that her birthday with be much later in the year, not tomorrow.
